NaPoWriMo :: Day 16

Immersion

When I lived in the forest and breathed the stars
it was only a matter of time before the vines overtook me,
their sinuous trunks intertwining across my flesh
I was lost in their shape and their movement,

it was only a matter of time before the vines overtook me,
the way they arced over my body and held me fast
I was lost in their shape and their movement,
vines grasping my flesh, holding me down,

the way they arced over my body and held me fast,
pinned to the rock face, I could see the stars,
vines grasping my flesh, holding me down,
breathing me in as I lived, pressed against the coldness

pinned to the rock face, I could see the stars,
the warmth of my body seeping into the stone
breathing me in as I lived, pressed against the coldness
it was only a matter of time before I got lost in the forest
